Police pulled over a Ford Fiesta being “driven with hesitation” at 11.50pm, and found the boy at the wheel and four of his cousins, all of a similar age, in the back, newspaper Paris Normandie reported.
At first the boy did not stop when the police car signaled, but eventually ground to a halt across both lanes of the road.
The boy admitted to police he had stolen his parents’ car keys while they were sleeping to take his cousins for a spin.
His parents were called after he was taken in for questioning, and will have to have to give evidence when the case comes to court.
