Average Swedes ‘sweet-toothed meat-lovers’

The average Swede is just over 40 years old, enjoys a bag of sweets per week, yet likes to keep active, according to the 2013 Statistical Yearbook of Sweden from Statistics Sweden (Statistiska Centralbyrån -SCB).

Average Swedes 'sweet-toothed meat-lovers'

Fredrik and Maria Johansson are your average Swedes, according to SCB.

They’re 40 and 42 years old respectively, and have two children named Oscar (14) and Julia (11).

Fredrik spends his days working in the manufacturing industry while his wife works in the care sector.

And the whole family has a sweet tooth. At least according to Statistics Sweden, which found that these average Swedes (“Medelsvenssons”) tuck into over a kilogramme of candy per week as a family and 11.7 kilos of pastries per person per year.

A typical Swede also works their way through 48 kilogrammes of meat annually, broken down into 12 kilos of beef, 16 kilos of pork and 17 kilos of poultry.

And what’s a good feed without something to wash it down?

The adults enjoy one litre of wine each per week, 1.5 litres of full-strength beer, and 130 milliliters of spirits.

Fredrik and Maria provide access to a positive future for their children. While the kids do occasionally feel the pinch of stress, they seldom get stomach or headaches. They even have their own bedroom, bicycle, and mobile telephone.
