US radio star buried in Oslo after family row

American radio legend Casey Kasem was buried last week in Oslo, six months after his death, it has emerged. The burial followed a long and bitter dispute between his widow and his children over the cause of his death.

Managers at the Vestre Cemetery in Norway’s capital confirmed to tabloid VG that the US star was buried last Tuesday.

According to the paper, his children did not learn of his funeral until Monday of this week. His children had demanded an autopsy of their father before he was buried, something that the burial now makes all but impossible.

The children claimed his wife, Jean Thompson Kasem, had caused him to get a fatal infection during a “wild, multi-state car ride,” according to US entertainment news website TMZ.

Kasem died on June 15th and his remains shipped to Oslo in August for burial on the instructions of his widow, who was planning to set up home in Norway’s capital.

Casey Kasem was best known for presenting the American Top 40 programme for 40 years.
