Paris police bust high-rolling gang of pram thieves

Parisian parents can breathe a sigh of relief.

 

Four pram thieves have been caught by police after a large-scale investigation, which was prompted when parents started reporting that their stolen prams were turning up online. 

 

As it turned out, a gang of three women and one man had been targeting prams across the city, and they're believed to have nicked 160 since January.

 

And it's no small haul either, with some of the prams selling for up to €1,000 in stores. 

 

The gang had a well-oiled strategy, wandering into nurseries around Paris and its suburbs before wandering out again with a stroller that wasn't theirs.

 

The crew sometimes even had a child with them so as not to attract unwanted attention.

 

Police arrested the group in the suburbs of Paris, and found 40 strollers, €14,000 in cash, as well as weapons and lock cutters. 

 

Police have estimated that the total booty was worth around €100,000. 

 

The four thieves face up to 15 years in prison for theft by an organized gang.
