The allegations relate to Beckenbauer's role in the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar respectively, reports N-tv.
Fifa's ethics commission is has already undertaken the investigation into Beckenbauer, who won the World Cup as a player and as national team manager, and has now passed it onto the adjudicatory chamber.
As Germany's delegate to the Fifa executive committee, Beckenbauer had a vote in the decisions to award the 2018 and 2022 World Cups which have both been dogged by allegations of vote-buying.
The announcement comes hard on the heels of allegations that Germany bought the 2006 World Cup through payments to Fifa delegates.
Beckenbauer, who was on the bidding committee, denied the accusations earlier in the week.
“I have not sent anyone money to acquire votes for the awarding of the 2006 World Cup to Germany,” said the 70-year-old Beckenbauer in a statement.
“And I'm sure that no other member of the bidding committee did either.”
