Juan Cuadrado poised for Juventus stint

Out-of-favour Chelsea forward Juan Cuadrado is poised for a season-long loan deal with Juventus only months after a big money move from Fiorentina, the Italian champions' CEO Beppe Marotta indicated on Sunday.

Cuadrado moved to Stamford Bridge in a 35 million euro ($34.9 million) deal only six months ago, but it now seems the Colombian international has been offered to Juventus until the end of the season after failing to impress Blues coach Jose Mourinho.

Juventus have been looking to bolster their attacking midfield since the departure of Arturo Vidal (Bayern Munich) and Andrea Pirlo (New York City FC) and amid the ongoing injury absence of Sami Khedira.

Marotta said the Turin giants had pounced on the offer, which is expected to become official on Monday, when the club unveil another new signing, Brazilian defender Alex Sandro.

“Today a great opportunity has come up, but we'll wait for tomorrow for the deal to become official,” Marotta told Premium Sport.

“He will come on a loan deal. Six months ago Cuadrado was the subject of a €35 million transfer: today this opportunity came up, and we took it.

“Now, it's up to (Juventus coach, Massimiliano) Allegri to see where he fits in with the team.”

The Gazzetta dello Sport website on Sunday said it would cost Juventus €25 million ($28.4m) to buy Cuadrado outright.

Juventus have won the past four Serie A titles and in his first season in charge, Allegri secured the league and Cup double and steered the Bianconeri to the Champions League final only to be outplayed by Barcelona.

VIDEO: Spain’s La Liga reviews video of boy racially abusing Vinicius

Spain's La Liga on Monday said it was reviewing a video of a child making racist insults towards Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior during the 2-2 draw with Valencia at the weekend.

“We’re in the process of studying and analysing the facts from a legal standpoint to see what we can and should do,” La Liga sources said.

In a video published by a journalist for ESPN Brasil, and picked up by Spanish media, a boy sitting in a woman’s lap can be heard calling Vinicius a “monkey”.

The Brazilian scored twice for Madrid as his team recovered from two goals down at Mestalla on Saturday.

Vinicius raised his fist in a “Black Power” salute after the first of his two goals at a ground where he was racially abused last season. Valencia subsequently banned three people from the stadium for life.

The 23-year-old has become a symbol of the fight against discrimination in Spanish football after suffering racist abuse on many occasions, and he was jeered repeatedly by home supporters on Saturday.

Jude Bellingham was sent off after the final whistle against Valencia for protesting after the referee blew the final whistle right before the England midfielder headed home what he thought was the winning goal.
