Germany and Dortmund football star Marco Reus was hit by a €540,000 fine Thursday, after state prosecutors in Dortmund confirmed he has been driving for years without a licence.

Injury-troubled Reus, 25, is accused of driving without a license at least six times between September 2011 and March this year.

“He'll therefore be paying a total fine of €540,000 over 90 days”, head Dortmund prosecutor Henner Kruse told Bild, adding that he based the fine on Reus' monthly income of €180,000.

It's another black day in a miserable year for the winger, who missed out on the World Cup in Brazil and many club games due to successive injuries.

According to the newspaper, Reus never passed his driving test.

“Unfortunately I then decided to take this path. I can't even justify it to myself any longer”, he said. “I was much too naive”.

Police discovered that Reus was driving without a licence when they pulled his sports car over for a routine stop in March.

But Bild reported that he had also been caught out by speed cameras several times in recent years.

“I've learned my lesson. I'll never do anything like this again”, Reus said, adding that he would sign up for driving lessons and take the test.

VIDEO: Spain’s La Liga reviews video of boy racially abusing Vinicius

Spain's La Liga on Monday said it was reviewing a video of a child making racist insults towards Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior during the 2-2 draw with Valencia at the weekend.

“We’re in the process of studying and analysing the facts from a legal standpoint to see what we can and should do,” La Liga sources said.

In a video published by a journalist for ESPN Brasil, and picked up by Spanish media, a boy sitting in a woman’s lap can be heard calling Vinicius a “monkey”.

The Brazilian scored twice for Madrid as his team recovered from two goals down at Mestalla on Saturday.

Vinicius raised his fist in a “Black Power” salute after the first of his two goals at a ground where he was racially abused last season. Valencia subsequently banned three people from the stadium for life.

The 23-year-old has become a symbol of the fight against discrimination in Spanish football after suffering racist abuse on many occasions, and he was jeered repeatedly by home supporters on Saturday.

Jude Bellingham was sent off after the final whistle against Valencia for protesting after the referee blew the final whistle right before the England midfielder headed home what he thought was the winning goal.
