Picture Celine Dion singing a grammatically confusing ballad while dressed as Olivia Newton John from Grease. You've just imagined the new video for Sweden's Eurovision entrant for 2014.
On Wednesday, Sanna Nielsen and her team released the official video clip to "Undo" (below), the song that won this year's Melodifestivalen competition.
The clip marks Nielsen's first in years and was directed by Mats Udd, who has previously worked with Swedish acts Timbuktu and First Aid Kit.
"I'm not used to recording music videos," Nielsen said in a statement. "The most recent one was six years ago. This is actually the second music video in my whole career."
The Local's music columnist Paul Connolly was less than impressed with the song.
"It sounds like a song Celine Dion would reject for being too wet," he said.
"Ace Wilder's Melodifestivalen runner-up, Busy Doin' Nothing, would have been a much better choice. But perhaps the Swedes don't fancy splashing out on Eurovision 2015. Mission accomplished, I'd say."
The lyrics to Undo came under fire in recent weeks when grammar sticklers pointed out that the opening line of the chorus – "Undo my sad" – makes no sense. The lyric has since been changed to "Undo my sad love", reported the Aftonbladet newspaper.
Nielsen will compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 6th, in Copenhagen. The 2014 Eurovision contest marks 40 years since Abba won Waterloo.
