The Spanish Government launched the official, government-approved price list for the Parliament's café and restaurant on 14th May, making it visible to all cash-strapped Spaniards on their website.
A self-service menu for €9, a three-course meal with waiter service for €13.40 and a vegetable sandwich for €2.80 are some of the shockingly low prices Spanish MPs get away with paying when having lunch at the Congress.
It may come as no surprise that alcohol is particularly cheap, with Spanish ministers having to splash out just over €5 for the priciest spirit and €3.45 for the cheapest gin on the menu.
With such affordable prices it’s a mystery why Spaniards aren't queuing outside the Congress to fill their stomachs and quench their thirst.
There’s just one small problem. It’s only available to MPs.
