Becks outshines Zlatan – in choice of Paris hotel

English football superstar David Beckham has finally found a place to lay his head in Paris. And with his €17,000 a night, 320m² suite at the famously fancy Hotel Bristol, Becks has outgunned Swedish clubmate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, to boot.

Becks outshines Zlatan - in choice of Paris hotel

Standing just 100 metres from the Elysée Palace, the Hotel Bristol – heavily featured in the Woody Allen film ‘Midnight in Paris’ – is the new home away from home for superstar David Beckham.

The former England captain, who signed for French league-leaders Paris Saint-Germain last month amid a firestorm of publicity, has moved into the Imperial suite, which at 320m² – (the equivalent of a five bedroom house), costs €17,000 per night (the value of a new car) according to French daily Le Parisien.

By our calculations, that looks set to amount to a bill of more than €2.6 million, by the end of Beckham's five-month contract with the club, which is due to end in June.

Not too shabby, especially when you consider that PSG’s previous marquee signing, Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, started his Paris adventure last summer in a meagre 80m² suite at the respectable – though not world-class – Intercontinental hotel, next to the city’s Opéra landmark.

Beckham, who had his first day on the job on Wednesday amid a French media circus, has stated that he will be handing over his entire five-month salary, likely to amount to millions of euros, to unnamed children’s charities, although there has been speculation in the French press that this is merely to avoid the attention of France's notorious tax man.

Le Parisien reported that the 37-year-old midfielder was accompanied at all times on Thursday by at least one bodyguard, but if you’re still keen to catch a glimpse of him in Paris you might first want to consult this insider’s guide book.

VIDEO: Spain’s La Liga reviews video of boy racially abusing Vinicius

Spain's La Liga on Monday said it was reviewing a video of a child making racist insults towards Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior during the 2-2 draw with Valencia at the weekend.

“We’re in the process of studying and analysing the facts from a legal standpoint to see what we can and should do,” La Liga sources said.

In a video published by a journalist for ESPN Brasil, and picked up by Spanish media, a boy sitting in a woman’s lap can be heard calling Vinicius a “monkey”.

The Brazilian scored twice for Madrid as his team recovered from two goals down at Mestalla on Saturday.

Vinicius raised his fist in a “Black Power” salute after the first of his two goals at a ground where he was racially abused last season. Valencia subsequently banned three people from the stadium for life.

The 23-year-old has become a symbol of the fight against discrimination in Spanish football after suffering racist abuse on many occasions, and he was jeered repeatedly by home supporters on Saturday.

Jude Bellingham was sent off after the final whistle against Valencia for protesting after the referee blew the final whistle right before the England midfielder headed home what he thought was the winning goal.
