Air Berlin chief Hartmut Mehdorn and his three board of director colleagues have been driving the BMW-made small car since this winter, the Welt am Sonntag newspaper said in a preview released Saturday of the story.
The unusual company car was not publicly announced, but Air Berlin confirmed a reporter’s query that its senior management is using the vehicle. There are several models of the car, but according to the Mini website the top models retail for a base price of just over €20,000 in Germany.
The story did not say which model was being driven or which extra features the company vehicles are equipped with.
The top managers drive around “of course without a chauffeur,” a company spokesman said.
