Guerlain in ‘immigrant rant’ when turned away from Eurostar

Famed perfumer Jean-Paul Guerlain has been accused of making racist comments and calling France a 'shit country' after being refused entry to the Eurostar, only weeks after he appeared in court on racism charges.

“France is a shit country, this is a shit company and we are are served only by immigrants,” 75-year-old Guerlain allegedly told three black and Asian employees on the Eurostar, radio France Info reports.

The staff say Guerlain arrived late to catch the Eurostar and was denied access to the train. He allegedly exploded in anger and insulted the three Eurostar employees.

Speaking on France Info, one of the employees says Guerlain’s comments were “full of contempt” and were made worse by the fact that the staff “were there to help him.” The three Eurostar employees were helping him on the platform in his wheelchair.

They have lodged a complaint.

The incident comes a month after Guerlain was on trial for saying racist comments during an interview on French television. He said “I worked like a nigger. I don’t know if niggers have always worked like that, but anyway.”

The comments sparked outrage from anti-racism groups and demonstrations in front of Guerlain shops.

Last month, he told the court that he regretted his “idiotic” comments.

VIDEO: Spain’s La Liga reviews video of boy racially abusing Vinicius

Spain's La Liga on Monday said it was reviewing a video of a child making racist insults towards Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior during the 2-2 draw with Valencia at the weekend.

“We’re in the process of studying and analysing the facts from a legal standpoint to see what we can and should do,” La Liga sources said.

In a video published by a journalist for ESPN Brasil, and picked up by Spanish media, a boy sitting in a woman’s lap can be heard calling Vinicius a “monkey”.

The Brazilian scored twice for Madrid as his team recovered from two goals down at Mestalla on Saturday.

Vinicius raised his fist in a “Black Power” salute after the first of his two goals at a ground where he was racially abused last season. Valencia subsequently banned three people from the stadium for life.

The 23-year-old has become a symbol of the fight against discrimination in Spanish football after suffering racist abuse on many occasions, and he was jeered repeatedly by home supporters on Saturday.

Jude Bellingham was sent off after the final whistle against Valencia for protesting after the referee blew the final whistle right before the England midfielder headed home what he thought was the winning goal.
