Luge winner Möller breaks tooth on silver medal

Möller, who stood on the podium with fellow German and gold medallist Felix Loch on February 14 in Vancouver, was apparently asked to bite into his medal by photographers after the event, broadcaster ARD reported on Thursday.

But the 28-year-old from Thuringia told ARD that his compliance led to a broken incisor, adding that he was looking for a dentist as soon as possible.

“The corner of the tooth has broken off a few times at home,” Möller said, adding that it had not been painful. “But it is irritating when you don’t trust yourself to smile as you should.”

Möller finished just 0.679 seconds after teammate Loch to claim the the silver medal in an emotionally charged competition following the tragic death of 21-year-old Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili during a training run.
