Viewers with broadband will be able to watch programmes from all of TV4’s channels whenever they choose – at the earliest on the same day as the regular transmission – as well as renting films over the internet.
In a press statement, TV4’s programme director Tobias Bringholm hailed the move as “real free TV”. While it may be free in the sense that viewers are no longer bound to the TV4 schedules there will be a subscription or pay-per-view charge.
“Part of the offer will be free, part of it you’ll have to subscribe to and part of it will be paid for on demand,” said Bringholm, who would not reveal any details of prices.
SF Anytime currently has around 600 films in its catalogue and the current online rental fee is between 29 kronor and 45 kronor.
