On Tuesday Tele 2 dropped the monthly fee for its 5 gigabyte (Gb) service to 159 kronor ($26), 10 kronor lower than the price announced by Glocalnet a day earlier.
Tele 2 also offers a 1 Gb Turbo3G service for 99 kronor a month.
“Our users use an average of 1 Gb a month. If you watch a lot of TV that of course takes up a lot of capacity, but for anyone who’s just surfing, e-mailing, paying the bills and reading online newspapers, 1 Gb is more than enough,” said Tele 2’s Thomas Ekman.
According to Tele 2, two thirds of the population will have access this summer to mobile broadband reaching speeds of up to 7.2 Mbit/s.
Telia Sonera did not want to say if and when it would join the ongoing price war.
“We seldom comment on our price activities before pushing them through and we don’t comment on our competitors,” said spokesman Ola Kallemur.
