More than 10,000 athletes from over 200 countries have descended on the French capital for the biggest sporting spectacle in the world: the Olympic Games (Los Juegos Olímpicos in Spanish).

The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics officially begin on Friday July 26th and end on August 11th.

It’s the first time in 12 years that the Olympics will be held in Europe and the opening ceremony, rather than taking place in the Olympic stadium as is traditional, will be held along Paris’ iconic River Seine.

These games are indeed expected to be special, with new urban sports such as BMX, skateboarding and breakdance taking place at Paris’ Place de la Concorde, beach volleyball next to the Eiffel Tower, equestrian events at Versailles and surfing competitions in far-flung Tahiti.

Global stars such as pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, basketballer Lebron James, gymnast Simone Biles, marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge and even Spain’s very own Rafa Nadal will all be at the Games.

So where will you be able to watch all 306 events across 32 sports at the Paris Games if you’re in Spain while they’re happening?

You’re in luck, because TV coverage of the Olympics will be extensive in Spain.

Public broadcaster RTVE will offer 400 hours of live broadcasting of the Paris Olympics completely for free.

This will be available on their channels La 1, La 2 and Teledeporte, all standard terrestrial TV channels in Spain. It’s worth checking all three channels as they may be broadcasting three different events happening at the same time.

If you don’t have a television you will also be able to stream the Olympics on your phone, laptop or table by accessing RTVE’s online platform RTVE Play, which is also free. The benefit of this is that you can handpick what sport you want to watch more easily, as they stream all the events happening simultaneously on different channels.

Eurosport will also offer extensive coverage of the Games, but this is subscription-based and available on DAZN.

Furthermore, you can also watch competition highlights on Olympics.com, although these may include some territorial.

Here is a full list of all the sports that will feature at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (the ones that have an asterisk are the new additions):

Aquatics (Swimming, Marathon Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Artistic Swimming), Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball (3×3, Basketball), Boxing, Breakdancing*, Canoe (Canoe Sprint, Canoe Slalom), Cycling (BMX Freestyle, BMX Racing, Road Cycling, Track Cycling), Equestrian (Equestrian Eventing, Equestrian Dressage, Equestrian Jumping), Fencing, Football, Golf, Gymnastics (Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Trampoline Gymnastics), Handball, Hockey, Judo, Modern Pentathlon, Rowing, Rugby (Rugby Sevens), Sailing, Shooting, Skateboarding*, Sport Climbing*, Surfing*, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball (Beach Volleyball, Volleyball), Weightlifting, and Wrestling (Greco-Roman Wrestling, Freestyle Wrestling).
