“We need more people; we’re talking a couple of hundred,” said production manager Gunnar Brunius to news agency TT.
Former employees who lost their jobs exactly a year ago are first in line for the new positions. Some 700 staff members were made redundant at the time, 150 of whom were brought back on board in November.
Saab plans to double its production rate to 220 cars per day next week, before accelerating to 308 cars in June.
“That’s close to the upper limit for what one shift can manage,” said Brunius.
Saab, which was taken over by Dutch luxury car maker Spyker in February, is to fill its fresh employment quotas over the next few months.
