The Civil Aviation Authority (Luftfartsverket – LFV) said traces of volcanic ash remained in a small corridor of airspace over the Simrishamn-Trelleborg area, continuing southeast to Hanö Bay. But LFV predicts that restrictions to this Zone 2 area will be lifted at 2pm on Saturday, leaving the skies over Sweden open for all air traffic for the rest of the day.
An area designated as Zone 2 may contain some volcanic material. The scope of the area is delineated by the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportsyrelsen) in line with maps provided by air traffic control coordinator Eurocontol. Any carriers wishing to fly through Zone 2 require a special permit from the Swedish Transport Agency, LFV said in a statement.
