Murder victim’s penis cut, stuffed down throat

A 33-year-old man was charged on Tuesday for the brutal murder of a man with a meat cleaver, during which the suspect cut off the victim's penis and stuffed it down his throat, newspaper Kvällsposten reported on Wednesday.

The murder suspect and the victim had known each other in passing previously and had partied together the day before. According to the murder suspect, a debt between the two men gnawed away at him, the report said.

On Midsummer Eve in June this year, the murder suspect took the bus to the 30-year-old victim’s apartment on Sadelmakaregatan in Helsingborg in southwestern Sweden.

The murder suspect was armed with a bag carrying a meat cleaver, awl and knife and accompanied by a 27-year-old man who had promised to keep watch at the door, the report said.

An autopsy report revealed the victim had sustained over 100 injuries when he was brutally beaten on the living room floor.

Before leaving the man’s apartment, the murder suspect grabbed a pair of scissors and cut the victim’s penis off, according to the accomplice, Kvällsposten reported.

“I turned away to avoid watching,” the accomplice recounted during questioning, according to Kvällsposten, adding that he believed that the man was still alive at the time.

The murder suspect called emergency services anonymously after the incident, informing them that they should send an ambulance to the address. He then shared details of the mutilation with several acquaintances, the report said.

The day after the incident, the murder suspect was arrested by police and his accomplice the following day.

The murder suspect has only acknowledged hitting the victim once with a meat cleaver, while the accomplice completely denies the crime, the report said.

Swedish appeals court throws out Tesla licence plate complaint

A Swedish appeals court rejected Tesla's attempt to force the Transport Agency to provide them with licence plates during an ongoing strike.

Swedish appeals court throws out Tesla licence plate complaint

The Göta Court of Appeal upheld a decision by the district court to throw out a request by US car manufacturer Tesla to force the Swedish Transport Agency to provide them with licence plates, on the grounds that a general court does not have jurisdiction in this case.

The district court and court of appeal argued that Tesla should instead have taken its complaint to an administrative court (förvaltningsdomstol) rather than a general court (allmän domstol).

According to the rules regulating the Transport Agency’s role in issuing licence plates in Sweden, their decisions should be appealed to an administrative court – a separate part of the court system which tries cases involving a Swedish public authority, rather than criminal cases or disputes between individuals which are tried by the general courts.

The dispute arose after postal service Postnord, in solidarity with a major strike by the Swedish metalworkers’ union, refused to deliver licence plates to Tesla, and the Transport Agency argued it wasn’t their responsibility to get the plates to Tesla in some other way.

The strike against Tesla has been going on for almost seven months.
