The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in the southern Swedish town Varberg.
Police were alerted to the scene at 2.30am by concerned eye-witnesses.
The three men, all born in 1990, had been speeding on a highway heading north from Varberg, but the reckless ride ended suddenly with a massive crash.
“They went straight through the roundabout and became airborne. They flew almost 30 metres before the car landed, flipped over and caught fire,” county duty officer Johan Johansson told the Aftonbladet newspaper.
The young men have all been taken to Varberg’s hospital, as all three suffered broken bones and lesions in the crash. Two sustained only mild injuries, but one of the men is reported to have suffered more severe injuries, according to the paper.
The men are not from Varberg, according to the police, and Aftonbladet speculated that there may be a connection with the Wheels & Wings car fest Varberg is currently hosting, which has attracted visitors from all over the country.
Police suspect the car’s driver of drunk driving or possibly driving under the influence of drugs.
