The cold air that has lain over Sweden has been replaced by high pressure and warmer springtime winds, and the sunny weather is expected to stay over the Easter weekend.
The mercury is set to edge up to 20C as far north as Stockholm on Maundy Thursday, and all of Sweden can expect around 15C-20C on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday.
“The weather will be sunny and warm overall. Norrland will have the occasional cloud cover, which means a little less sun and lower temperature, but even there it will be around 15C on sunny days,” Sandra Andersson, meteorologist at Sweden's national weather agency SMHI, told the TT news agency on Thursday.
The southern half of Sweden on the other hand, will have sun and warm temperatures as far as the meteorological forecasts can see – in other words, until next week at the very least.
But before you decide to throw an Easter barbecue, be careful. There is also a heightened risk of grass fires as well as forest fires in southern Sweden, where the snow has melted but last year's tinder-dry and highly flammable grass has not yet been replaced by fresh grass.

Great weather is fantastic news for our first Easter in Sweden.
We’ll definitely have eggs, pickle herrings and chocolate eggs. We may wait for the feathers and spicy drink.
So far, so good Sweden. Tack tack
