Roskilde Festival organizers have announced that the eight-day extravaganza has sold out, with the best ticket sales in nearly 20 years. 

 

“Ever since we started revealing parts of the line-up in the autumn, the ticket sales have been record high. We actually have to go all the way back to the mid-1990s to find an edition that could compete,” festival spokeswoman Christina Bilde said. 

 

Some 80,000 fans have bought full festival tickets, giving them access to the four ‘warm-up’ days famous for its wild camping culture and the four days for the main music line-up.

 

“It’s amazing that so many thousands are opting for the full festival experience, wanting to be part of a unique community for eight days. Simultaneously, this means we can once again live up to our non-profit goals by donating millions to charity,” Bilde said. 

 

This year’s Roskilde Festival line-up includes artists like Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar, Muse, Florence + the Machine, Pharrell Williams, St. Vincent, Disclosure and The War on Drugs.

 

The NorthSide Festival, held June 12-14 in Aarhus, also announced on Tuesday that its full-package tickets had sold out. Around 35,000 music fans bought tickets for the three-day festival, which will be highlighted by The Black Keys, Wu-Tang Clan, Alt-J and the Jesus and Mary Chain. 

 

Tickets for the new festival Tinderbox, taking place June 26-28 in Odense, are still available. Organizers said last week that the festival has sold approximately 19,000 of its 25,000 tickets. The festival got in hot water with early adopters by offering last-minute discounts in an effort to boost sales, but tried to smooth the waters by pledging free beer to fans who bought full-price tickets.
