According to mountain rescue, the two men were working on the mountain near the cable cars, building a profile of snow conditions in order to assess the risk of further avalanches.
Immediately after the avalanche was triggered, their colleagues began an urgent search, which quickly uncovered the two men.
Sadly for one of the men, help came to late, as all attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.
This week was disastrous for avalanche deaths, when on Monday two American skiers died at Sölden in Tyrol, and a solo Italian skier died under the snow in Gergellen in Vorarlberg.
