After hearing about complaints from parishioners about the tolling of the bells at St. Mary's Cathedral in Linz, Pastor Bell decided to 'shut down' the ringing of the church bells on a trial basis in his own parish.
Despite his name, Bell won't let the bells ring out, in a test phase that started on November 21st. It's primarily intended to silence the bells at night, when tired parishioners may be sleeping.
The motivation appears to be a court case which is currently active, where a tired parishioner in Linz has sued the cathedral parish to silence the bells at night.
Bell is waiting to hear from his flock about whether his 'no-bell' trial is successful or not.
