When contacted by The Local, West Midlands police said that the body of a man believed to be in his late teens or early 20s was discovered at a home in Daley Close, Ladywood, just after 9am on Tuesday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
According to Tgcom24 the man is also Italian and had been living with the victim.
The victim has been identified in the Italian press as 21-year-old Francesco Leccese, from Gignano, Aquila.
According to Tgcom24, Leccese moved to Birmingham in August and since November had been working part time as a croupier at a local casino.
Quoted by Tgcom24, Bruno Tarantino, a local priest in Gignano said: “He was a sociable boy, involved in the parish and who was liked by everyone.”
A forensic post mortem is due to take place on Wednesday afternoon.
