Swedish town demands cut in refugee numbers

In a public letter to the Migration Board (Migrationsverket) on Monday, the Svalöv city council demanded a decrease in the number of refugees resettled in the city.

The Migration Board had recently decided to open additional refugee housing in Svalöv, and local politicians said the information from the board came "far too late" for the city to be able to adequately prepare. 

The city presented the Migration Board with an ultimatum:  either shut down one of the two current refugee residencies, or decrease the number of places at both.

The Migration Board has declined to comment on the matter until an official reply has been sent.
