Daisy started to form over the Mediterranean on Tuesday before heading northeast. Once the weather system collides with the cold air already over Germany on Friday, heaps of the white stuff could begin to fall from the heavens.
“From 10 to 40 centimetres – everything is possible,” Christian Herold from the German Weather Service (DWD) said, explaining the further west Daisy’s course is, the more snow will blanket the country.
“Drivers should be cautious since a brisk northeasterly wind could cause widespread snowdrifts,” he said.
And the Arctic temperatures mean any snow will likely stick around through the weekend at least.
On Wednesday, temperatures will remain stuck near -10 degrees Celsius in northeastern Germany and between -2 and -8 eight in the rest of the country.
