Drunk in Cologne dials emergency to ‘save the world’

Police in Cologne said they had to drag a 60-year-old intoxicated man from a public telephone booth after he dialled emergency services more than 30 times to “save the world.”

Police said the inebriated man blocked the telephone line for over six-and-a-half hours while he constantly dialled 110 and 112 and seemingly talked gibberish.

When the cops arrived at the public telephone booth to assess the situation, the man reportedly told them he wanted “to save the world.”

Police took the man to a local station where he could sleep off his intoxication.

Falsely dialling emergency services in Germany is punishable with a stiff fine and can even cost a two-year prison sentence.
