You can travel on Rome's public ransport network for free on Friday and Saturday – if you tap in using a contactless Mastercard. Rome's public ransport company Atac has announced.

The Black Friday promotion, in partnership with Mastercard, means free metro, bus and tram travel across the city if you use the Tap & Go feature.

The offer runs from Friday 29 November until midnight on Saturday 30 November.

The offer is only available to passengers using a contactless Mastercard to tap in at metro or railway station turnstiles.

Passeners can also use the city's buses and trams for 100 minutes after validating a digital ticket using Tap & Go at a metro or train station

You simply need to tap your card at the start of a journey, as usual, but you won't be charged for the ticket.

Mastercard's Country Manager for Italy, Michele Centemero, said the Black Friday transport offer was “an important initiative to raise consumer awareness of the advantages of cashless life and the use of innovative transport payments.”
