The rail link, called “flugzug”, is being launched by Swiss International Air Lines.
The airline will offer 14 trains daily in each direction together with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The cost of the rail journey will be included in the price of the plane ticket.
SWISS and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) now offer customers a ‘Flugzug’ rail service between Lugano Station and Zurich Airport for travel on or after 16 October. More information: https://t.co/0Un1WKmY1c

The two-and-a-half-hour train ride will replace 40-minute flights that were operated by the now-defunct Adria Airways. The Slovenian carrier, which filed for bankruptcy at the end of September, provided domestic service on behalf of Swiss between the two cities.
Swiss and SBB already operate a rail service between Basel and Zurich airports.
