Geneva dentist treats wolf for toothache

The wildlife park’s vet had discovered a wound on the cheek of the animal, reported 20 Minuten. 

 

On anesthetising it, he found a hole in one of the wolf’s teeth.

 

In order to avoid having to tranquilize the animal a second time, the zoo called Geneva dentist Christian Emmenegger to treat the animal there and then — and he was only too happy to help. 

 

“I once read an article about a dentist who had removed a tooth from a lion in a zoo. I always thought it would be amazing to do something like that,” the enthusiastic dentist told the paper. 

 

In calling the dentist the park’s director said they “wanted to maximise the chances that it would be done well and therefore avoid having to treat the wolf again later on”.

 

Dental work on wild animals is particularly delicate and requires dental specialists, according to the paper.
