Facebook announced on Tuesday that it would open the base at “Station F”, a €250 million tech hub project soon to open in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.
Speaking on site, Facebook's Chief Operating Officer SherylSandberg praised Paris as “a city of new ideas.”
“Entrepreneurs are the engine of economic growth here in France and around the world,” she said.
“Paris is a capital for food, culture, but it’s also a thriving tech scene,” she added.
“We're going to continue these types of investments here. We're excited to support a new generation of French start-ups with enormous potential to grow the economy and create jobs.”
Facebook has already announced that it will be teaming up with several French startups, including health-app The Fabulous, carpool app Karos, and Mapstr, which lets users bookmark their favorite places or places they want to try.

Facebook is acting as a founding partner in the start-up campus, which will be the biggest on earth when it opens its doors in April.
The social media site will offer 80 desks in the hub and working space for up to 15 independent start ups, as part of a six-month programme, Station F said in a statement.
It will be called the “Start-up garage from Facebook.”
“While Facebook already is a huge supporter of entrepreneurship around the world (…) this is the first time Facebook is investing into a physical space,” Station F wrote.
“And we couldn’t be more thrilled that they picked Station F to partner with.”
Station F, a 34,000 square-metre (366,000 square-foot) facility, was bankrolled by Xavier Niel, who shook up the French internet and mobile market with his low-cost Free service.
The building, a former railway depot, will open in April 1st.
