Avinor, the company that runs Norway's 46 state-owned airports, announced the new route on Friday.

Ethiopian Airlines will offer five flights a week between Oslo’ Gardermoen airport and the Ethiopian capital.

Gardermoen CEO Øyvind Hasaas said that recent investments in the airport made the Addis Ababa route possible.

“Now Norway has been given a route to the airport in Africa that has the best connections to other African cities and countries. This provides major opportunities for Norwegian tourists and for Norwegian industry and airfreight,” he said.

The new route will begin on March 26th.
