The Civil Guard said they had identified and arrested a man after the incident in Montillana, a small town near Granada, southern Spain on Sunday night.
The man will be investigated for the crime of “negligent homicide” after he apparently fired off a rocket which veered into a crowd of people celebrating the annual festival.
The child was with his family visiting Montillana from the nearby town of Alcalá la Real and was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
