As rain continues to batter Spain, one of the hardest hit areas is Malaga on the south coast. The city is on amber alert for heavy rain and storms with the weather expected to last until Friday.

On Monday 17 litres of rain fell on Malaga airport in just one hour while cascades of water rushed through the flooded streets.

But the rainy weather was welcomed by some locals as much-needed; providing water for the dams in the province which rose for the first time in over a year this week.

Spain’s national weather agency Aemet said that persistent rain will continue in the west of Andalusia and the centre of the country, while the Canary Islands will experience strong winds.

The west, centre and south of Spain is set to experience stormy weather on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Aemet.

But hope is in sight… Much of Spain will see sunny skies and a rise in temperatures just in time for the weekend.
