On Tuesday, police confirmed that a dead body found last week at a construction site, where a new gallery for iconic artist Edvard Munch is being built in Oslo, belonged to a Swedish citizen in his thirties.
“He was not officially missing, but there were people in his social circle who had missed him. Police received tips from his acquaintances and on the basis of this they have been able to identify him,” Stein Olav Bredli, head of Oslo's homicide police, told the Aftenposten newspaper.
Officers had to use a blow torch to get the man's body out of the pipe on Thursday.
Several people have since been questioned by officers, including the builder who found the body.

The cause of death had not yet been established by Tuesday afternoon, despite a forensic report, with police previously suggesting alternative theories, including murder, suicide or an accident.
“The preliminary autopsy report indicates a possible cause of death, but we don't want to go into details. We still want answers to some more questions and have not yet started a murder investigation,” said Bredli.
