Fans go ‘ahahaha’ as Swedish Tarzan star drops trousers

Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård gave fans a glimpse of what they can expect in his upcoming Tarzan movie, when he decided to leave his trousers at home while presenting a prize at the MTV Movie Awards.

Photos of the 39-year-old Hollywood hunk dressed in a tuxedo jacket on his top half, while sporting only boxer shorts, socks and some shiny shoes below, had gone viral on social media around the world by Monday afternoon, following the awards gala in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Channelling his inner Tarzan, Skarsgård took to the stage in his unusual outfit to hand out the 'Movie of the Year' gong to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However he also used the opportunity to make a massive plug for his upcoming film, which will see him swinging his way through the Congolese jungle wearing even fewer clothes.

“No pants. Me, Tarzan! Gotta give the fans a little skin,” he told the audience.

“I was going to go shirtless, but then someone told me that Zac Efron did that two years ago here.”

Meanwhile Samuel L. Jackson turned up fully clothed to help him hand out the award, sporting a leather jacket and a bowler hat alongside his black trousers.

Skarsgård, who carved an international reputation after starring in True Blood, plays the newest incarnation of the beefcake forest character who rescues his beloved Jane from the latest bunch of crooks in their path. The movie is due for global release later this year.

Earlier this month it was revealed that while he did some of his own stunts, it was a steamy sex scene with his female co-star Margot Robbie that caused him the most harm during filming.

The Swede is member of his country's most famous acting family. His father, Stellan, has starred in a diverse range of films including 'Good Will Hunting' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
