Democrats Abroad, an official organization under the Democratic National Committee in Washington, is holding its Global Presidential Primary on Super Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
In Denmark, in-person voting for Democratic presidential candidates will take place from 12pm to 8pm at Café Holberg No 19 near Nyhavn in Copenhagen.
American expats outside of the Copenhagen area can participate in the global primary by voting online or via fax or mail between March 1-8, Details can be found at democratsabroad.org.
“We encourage all American citizens living abroad who are eligible to vote in the US elections to register to vote. There are several websites that make it easy, for instance the government site FVAP.gov, as well as VoteFromAbroad.org. Democrats Abroad Denmark helps all American citizens living in Denmark to register to vote, whether they are a Democrat, Republican or Independent,” David S. Miller, spokesperson for Democrats Abroad Denmark, told The Local.
Any American citizen who is 18-years old or older by November 8, 2016, can vote in the US general election. At the Copenhagen venue, Democrats Abroad Denmark can help voters register to vote in upcoming state primaries as well as the general election in November. Voter registration is non-partisan, and Democrats Abroad Denmark suggests that you bring your US passport along for identification.
In addition to the in-person voting in Copenhagen, Democrats Abroad will host polling stations in 104 cities in 39 countries.
Democrats Abroad will send 21 delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in July.
The Republican Party does not offer a similar primary solution for Americans living abroad but Republican voters can vote in the November general election via an absentee ballot.
