Regular exercise may be good for the health, but most people aren't dedicated enough to brave a 3am run in the middle of winter – particularly not in the nude.
But one man in the northern Italian city of La Spezia is doing just that, much to the surprise of the bemused locals who have spotted him.
In the early hours of Monday morning, a greengrocer unloading his van was unnerved by the sight of the jogger, Il Secolo XIX newspaper reported. Frightened, the shopkeeper went into a nearby bar, where others reassured him that the nude man had become a regular fixture in the early hours of the morning.
The newspaper, which referred to the jogger as 'La Spezia's Forrest Gump', reported that several sightings of the man suggest he runs at the same time roughly once a week. His route takes him through the Migliorina district of La Spezia in the direction of the city centre – which sometimes involves running down major roads.
He was described as “in his forties, bearded, and with a belly”.
He is said to run barefoot, as well as bare-bummed.
