Danish nature photographer Jesper Grønne posted a beautiful timelapse video to YouTube on Tuesday showing Northern Lights over the Jutland town of Silkeborg.
The Northern Lights, also known as the aurora borealis, is caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere. They can be seen from many places on Earth but are most visible within the Arctic Circle.
The best chance to see the phenomenon is on clear nights far away from the city on an elevated spot that is as dark as possible.
Grønne runs the nature website Hvad i himlen, where he posts other videos and photos of nature phenomena in the Danish skies.
