The man was gored at around 1am on Tuesday morning in the town of Pedreguer, near Alicante.

He was charged and gored by a bull and received “serious injuries” according to a statement released by the Pedreguer Council. Doctors could do nothing to save him and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The man had been in the town with a group of friends to watch the bull festival, which has been cancelled on July 14th and 15th “as a sign of mourning for the death of the visitor”.

The town’s municipal government has expressed its “support and condolences” to the family and friends of the man and also reminded visitors to behave “responsibly and according to security regulations”.

One of Spain’s most famous bull festivals, Pamplona’s San Fermin, saw its last running of the bulls on Tuesday. During the first bull-run in the city, two Americans and a British man were gored. A total of ten people were gored during the week-long celebration in Pamplona, which ends on Tuesday.
