Thought the cat video had gone to the internet graveyard? Think again! A Norwegian video of a fluffy feline jumping on her owner’s chest just got more than 1.2 million views on YouTube.

Norway cat video wins YouTube glory
The video, shot over several days, shows the cat demanding attention as soon as owner Alexander Fredriksen sits down to play video games or use his iPad.

Nala, a Maine Coon crossed with a Norwegian Forest, is already the 'it cat' of Norwegian social media.

As well as starring in the latest viral cat video, the five-year-old feline has her own Instagram account with 13,400 followers.

Nala’s career as an Internet diva started just four months ago, when Fredriksen posted a video on YouTube with the endearing title “Our fluffy snow-loving creature”, showing the playful puss frolicking in the snow.

That video also pulled in more than a million views.

Luckily for Nala fans, the latest cutting edge research indicates that watching cat videos is actually good for you.

A study published in the journal Computers in Human Behaviour journal showed that people felt less anxious, annoyed and sad after watching  cat videos.

“We all have watched a cat video online, but there is really little empirical work done on why so many of us do this, or what effects it might have on us,” Jessica Hall Myrick, assistant professor at Indiana University told the Independent newspaper.

“Even if they are watching cat videos on YouTube to procrastinate or while they should be working, the emotional pay-off may actually help people take on tough tasks afterwards.”
