In a country unified barely 150 years ago, it’s not surprising that regional stereotypes and rivalries are still alive and well.

The Italians love to snipe about other Italians (or, better still, claim that they don’t even count as Italians).

While people in Naples are mocked for their incomprehensible accent, those up in Trentino are simply dismissed as “German”.

Here The Local lists ten of the most famous stereotypes of the inhabitants of different Italian cities and regions.
