Marcel Perrin Jacquet, 68, who was reported missing last Tuesday was found dead in the Torgon region of the canton of Valais early in the afternoon, cantonal police said.

His body was found lying near a stream at the bottom of a cliff and a trail, police said.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances of his death.

Meanwhile, police in the canton of Graubünden said they found the body of a 35-year-old man last seen on May 5th in the municipality of Vrin.

The hiker was discovered at the foot of an avalanche above the 2,100-metre level on a path leading to the Diesrut Pass, near the Ticino border.

The man was on a walking tour of the Greina Plateau, equipped with a tent and sleeping bag in the remote mountain area, police said.
