New minute of silence for Germanwings victims

Germans again took a few moments on Thursday to remember those killed in the Germanwings flight 4U9525 plane crash on Tuesday.

North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Pfalz were the only governments to have declared an official minute of silence across the state at 10:53 am, the time the plane went down. People at the state parliament in Düsseldorf stopped in their tracks:

Meanwhile in the town of Haltern, not far from Düsseldorf, people stopped in the street to remember the victims – especially the group of young children and teachers from the town killed on their way home from an exchange visit:

At Düsseldorf airport, a makeshift memorial to those killed had grown and spread to include hundreds of candles, flowers and written tributes:

At the German Football Association national Under-17s' squad match against Italy, there was a minute of silence before kickoff:

And earlier in the day, as the Bundestag (German parliament) began its work, the chamber fell silent for a minute, with Chancellor Angela Merkel and Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier front and centre:
