According to the paper, BBC Worldwide is waiting until next week’s internal report on Clarkson’s “fracas” with a producer rules on whether the popular presenter can keep his job.
"At the moment we are taking things on a day by day basis and as things stand the shows are scheduled to run as billed,” A BBC Worldwide source told the newspaper. “It is not happening tomorrow, it is happening in eight days' time, so we are waiting to see what the investigation delivers.”
Norwegian promoters Atomic Soul have so far sold 20,000 tickets for the shows, with more tickets still available to buy on their website.
The BBC source told the newspaper that if Clarkson’s BBC contract was terminated on the recommendation of the inquiry, then his contract with BBC Worldwide, which runs Top Gear Live would also come to an end.
"No-one is really sure about the timing of the investigation's decision, so before we disappoint 20,000 fans in Norway, at the moment we are going ahead with the show,” he said.
Clarkson was suspended on March 10 after allegedly punching the producer Oisin Tymon, after being told he could not have steak and chips for dinner because their hotel had stopped serving hot food.
Peer Osmundsvaag from Atomic Soul, told Dagbladet newspaper earlier this month that he believed the shows would go ahead.
“Top Gear Live is unaffected by this and we look forward to four shows with all three presenters at the end of the month,” he said.
Osmundsvaag had yet to reply to an email from The Local by the time this story was published.
