With further expected fresh snow, experts are saying that the danger of unexpected avalanche in the mountains remains high, and will probably increase due to current and expected weather conditions.

Fresh snow is accumulating primarily on loose snow, making conditions ideal for a dangerous shift of weight leading to trigger an avalanche.

The most dangerous areas are all wind-loaded slopes above 2,000 metres.  In the Arlberg and Ausserfern regions, new snow has built up since Friday to a depth of 40 centimetres in the Silvretta, as well as up to 25 centimetres in the lowlands and along the northern Alps.
