Norway nears five billion text messages in 2014

By the end of November, the country’s 5.1 million people had already sent 4.6 billion texts, according to telecoms operator Telenor.

With the text-happy Christmas and New Year holiday seasons approaching, Telenor believes Norwegians will pass the five-billion mark for the year.

“In October 451 million text messages were sent. That’s the highest level we’ve ever measured in a single month, and it’s business solutions that are generating an enormous growth,” said Bjørn Ivar Moen, head of Telenor Norway’s mobile division.
