Dec. 11: Research Lunch with Martin Bech at Ideon Science Park (Lund)

What is so special about synchrotron radiation? How can we use it for better x-ray imaging? 

Phase-contrast x-ray imaging has recently been proven to give improved contrast in soft tissue samples. In particular with highly brilliant synchrotron radiation, superior images can be obtained: Very good contrast with resolution ranging from micrometers to a few tens of nanometers. This is an excellent tool for studying three-dimensional morphology in many different fields of science. 

The synchrotron under construction at the MAX IV laboratory in the northern part of Lund will be ready for the first scientific experiments in 2016. One of the beamlines planned in the second phase of MAX IV is the MedMAX beamline for bio- and medical imaging. 

At this lunch seminar, Martin Bech will present the latest possibilities for x-ray imaging using synchrotron radiation. Martin Bech is Associate Senior University Lecturer at the Department of Radiation Physics and also Coordinator of the research school "Imaging" at Lund University.
