The Dutch expedition “Mars One” plans to establish a settlement on Mars before the year 2023. More than 200,000 people applied to be part of the mission before application deadline expired. Among them were more than 600 Norwegians.
Robin André Ingebretsen of Norway is one step closer to joining the mission.
Ingebretsen said to NRK: “Since I watched the movie "Apollo 13" when I was four, I always wanted to be an astronaut.”
The 20-year-old was one of two Norwegians who were picked out to be part of the project further ahead. The other one is Norwegian-Canadian Eric Seedhouse (49), who lives in Canada.
However his mother is not quite as enthusiastic. Rita Berg Ingebretsen said to VG: “We basically hope he doesn't get his dream fulfilled.”
Robin will know during the spring whether he will go further in the competition or not.
